Incident at Kemp Preschool | Update

Updated message at 10:55 a.m.

Xcel Energy has deemed that the incident was an expected release of excess pressure and that there is no underground gas leak. Children can safely return to school on Monday.

Message at 10 a.m.

Dear Kemp Preschool Families,

Today, during a routine maintenance check, we identified a possible underground gas leak at the Kemp preschool building. Students and staff were safely evacuated from the preschool building and moved into Kemp Elementary School building.

Morning preschool students can be picked up from the Kemp Elementary School front office at normal dismissal time (11:10 a.m.). Only a parent or authorized guardian with identification will be allowed to pick up a student.

Afternoon preschool students will continue with their normal remote learning today.

Gas company crews are on their way to the school to inspect the leak. Additional information will be shared as it becomes available.

Please contact me or my office if you have any questions about this incident at rsavage@adams14.org.

Respectfully,
Robert Savage
Kemp Elementary School Principal
